DEFCON 4 Condition Blue

This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 8:15 P.M. Thursday, August 20th, 2015. Condition Blue. DEFCON 4. Condition Blue. DEFCON 4. Condition Blue. DEFCON 4.

There are currently no imminent nuclear threats against the United States at this time, however there are events occurring in the world theatre which require closer monitoring.

North and South Korea have engaged in a cross-border strike, each lobbing a small number of shells at each other. While this is unusual, it is not cause for undue alarm as this is an unfortunate feature of the Koreas.

However, North Korea has issued an ultimatum to South Korea, demanding an end to cross-border loudspeaker propaganda by the South within 48 hours. South Korea has issued a statement of refusal. It is unknown exactly how North Korea will respond should the ultimatum expire, however North Korea has placed itself in a difficult position. They must now act upon their threat or look weak.

Adding to this are exercises being held by South Korea and the United States in the area, which has further increased tensions.

While there is a low threat of further deliberate hostilities, the possibility of accidental or uncontrollable escalation has been determined to be enough to warrant a closer examination of the situation.

Again, there is a very low threat of deliberate hostilities. We are simply monitoring events more closely and have upgraded the alert level to correspond with this increased monitoring.

The DEFCON Warning System is a private enterprise which monitors world events and assesses nuclear threats against the United States by national entities. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack.

If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area.
