Jesus the Precious StoneBy Prophet Ken Dewey – April 30, 2012 Jesus Christ said: I am the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE: No man cometh unto the Father, BUT BY ME. John 14:6 Men have searched for the WAY TO GOD, and have since the beginning longed for acceptance with God. Adam and Eve the first men that were created by God, lost their way. They listened to the enemy of God, the serpent, they disobeyed Gods direct command to not eat of the forbidden fruit on the Tree of Knowledge Good and Evil. God had told them and warned them, but they did not listen. Because of their decision they were not allowed to remain in the beautiful garden where they had lived, but were forced out unto the surrounding world. Genesis 3. This began mankind’s journey away from the God who created them. The whole family of men were affected by the act of disobedience of Adam and Eve. In Romans 5:12 the scripture states, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all sinned.” The terrible reality is that the first family, when they sinned, caused all men after them to sin. From that moment, man begin on a downward pathway. This pathway became darker and darker, until men became totally ignorant of God. Romans chapter l discussed the doesn’t. Read it! It led men downward and further and further away from their creater. See their downward progression: “Because that when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four footed beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God gave them up to uncleanness through the lust of thir own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves.” “Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.” “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable,unmerciful:” Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. What a terrible story. But in studying history we see that this is true. Many think that men are progressing upward in intelligence and moral standing. On the contrary, men have progressed downward. The knowledge of mankind seemingly has increased, yet men have become fools, thinking they do not need God. Professing themselves to be wise, they have become lost fools. BUT GOD HAS COME TO RESCUE FALLEN MEN!!!! In Romans 5:6 we read, “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ(JESUS) died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. BUT GOD COMMENDETH HIS LOVE TOWARD US, IN THAT, WHILE WE WERE YET SINNERS, CHRIST DIED FOR US.” After Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the world of lost sinners, He was buried. Three days later Jesus arose from the dead! This was to prove to the world that he was God, and that our sins have truly been forgiven. Jesus is the only one that makes this claim. THERE IS NO OTHER THAT HAS COME OUT OF THE GRAVE! There have been many great men but they are still in the grave. JESUS IS ALIVE. The answer for fallen mankind is JESUS ONLY. Only Jesus can undo what has been done! It took God sending His only son, Jesus, to die for the sin of Adam and Eve. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil, that old serpent, that were began in the Garden of Eden. The Bible declares in John 3:16 that God loved the World so much that He gave his only son to die to redeem mankind. Years ago, Jesus came into the world, lived then died, and rose from the dead for every man. JESUS IS THE PRECIOUS STONE! In 1 Peter 1:6-8, the Bible says that JESUS IS a special stone that the builders (Men) rejected, thinking He was not necessary. Men have tried to build without Jesus. In their religious works they have failed to put Jesus in their building. But the scripture says that Jesus, “the stone which the builders have disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner.” JESUS IS THE PRECIOUS STONE! UNTO YOU THEREFORE WHICH BELIEVE, JESUS IS PRECIOUS! Have you trusted in and received Jesus as your savior? If not you can do that by simply bowing your head and asking Him to forgive you of your sin. He will then come into your life and live in you. He will save you. Asking Jesus to save you and forgive you is absolutely necessary in order to be saved.. The Bible declares in John 1:9-13 “Jesus was the light, which lighteth every man that cometh unto the world. He (Jesus) was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. BUT AS MANY AS RECEIVED HIM, TO THEM GAVE HE POWER TO BECOME THE SONS OF GOD, EVEN TO THEM THAT BELIEVE ON HIS NAME: which were born, not of blood (born into the family of mankind), nor of the will of the flesh (trying to be a son by the works of self or religion), nor of the will of man (no man can save you except Jesus), BUT OF GOD.” Repentance from dead works and sin is necessary for your salvation. In Acts 2:38 we read, “Repent, and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Many people, even the devil believes, yet they are not saved! You must repent. You must do more than just give mental agreement. Many people know Jesus is real, yet they will not come to him and repent. In the following verse it is stated that more than belief is necessary. Notice: Romans 10:9 states: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, THOU SHALT BE SAVED.” Two things are mentioned here, confess the LORD Jesus and believe in your heart (believe what? That Jesus arose from the dead). First one must make Jesus LORD (if Jesus is Lord He is the one who is lord (ruler of your life). Many wish to be saved but want to live as they desire to live. BUT JESUS MUST BE LORD! becoming a Christian means becoming “Christ Like”. Hebrews 6 verse 1 make reference to salvation as “repentance from dead works.” All must repent from that which has kept them for coming to the Savior. It should be noted here that salvation can only come by the work of Jesus upon the cross and his resurrection from the dead for the remission of sins. (1 Corinthians 15:1-6) Men cannot be saved by keeping the ten commandments. He cannot be saved by his works. Good works is something men do not have. Salvation can only come to man by the shed Blood of Jesus. Mankind is saved only by GRACE (unearned favor of God). Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that NOT OF YOURSELVES: it is the GIFT OF GOD: NOT OF WORKS , lest any man should boast.” It is also to be noted that it is important for everyone who has been saved to be baptised (immersed, or put under water in the name of Jesus). Some want to be saved yet will not come for baptism. Jesus himself was baptised (not that he was ever a sinner), but to fulfill all righteousness, or to be a clear pattern). We should be baptised AFTER we are saved. This is a clear pattern found in the scriptures. (It should be noted here that that baptism is only for believers and that baptism itself does not save men. Baptism was never offered to any person in the New Testament for salvation. Baptism is clearly taught as an act of obedience that follows salvation. In Acts 2:38 a more accurate understanding of this verse is “Repent, and be baptised because of the remission of sins…”. In conclusion, I quote the clear teaching found in Acts 8:26-38 in which the Ethiopian eunuch was saved upon the preaching of Philip. After Philip preached his message about Jesus, the Ethiopian eunuch ask in verse 36, “And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me from being baptised?” Philip answered this question
